New Images For Studio Ghibli's Next Film Released
New images from Studio Ghibli’s latest film have begun to surface online following its release in Japan last month.
Studio Ghibli’s latest film, titled The Boy and the Heron, draws inspiration from the 1937 novel How Do You Live, and is said to be director Hayao Miyazaki’s final film before retiring.

Additionally, the film has utilized some unorthodox marketing tactics, more specifically, a lack of marketing entirely beyond a single poster for the film. In spite of this, the film has seen success in its domestic release, having grossed over 6.2 billion Yen (over 42 million USD) and counting, proving that Miyazaki’s name and reputation alone are enough to bring audiences to theaters.
If these new visuals are any indication, The Boy and the Heron promises to be another classic for Studio Ghibli, and Hayao Miyazaki’s swan song marks the end of an era for animation as a whole.
As of the writing of this article, the US release date of The Boy and the Heron has not yet been revealed, but the distribution rights have been acquired by GKIDS, and the film will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7th. The film’s US release is expected to follow later this year.
