New 'Gundam' Show Drops A Trailer

Gundam fans rejoice, as Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX has released a new trailer for the upcoming show!
GQuuuuuuX, directed by Kayuza Tsurumaki and the product of a partnership between animation companies Studio Khara and SUNRISE, will feature an intriguing storyline set within a huge circular space colony. According to the series’ website, our main character, Amate Yuzuriha, is a high schooler living a peaceful life before an encounter with a war refugee named Nyaan pulls her into the illegal sport of Gundam duels called Clan Battle. Amate operates under a pseudonym and pilots the mysterious battlesuit GQuuuuuuX for her fights, though things are complicated when both the police and military turn up in pursuit of another battlesuit, piloted by a mysterious young man named Shuji Itō.
The trailer, dropped on December 3rd, flashes through many of the plot points as they have been revealed so far, with our three main characters introducing themselves. There are also some new faces who appear and seem to be Amate’s support team for her illegal battles.

The animation on display, meanwhile, looks gorgeous and rich in detail. A stunning opening shot of the rotating colony showing the curved habitation sections and open spaces displaying the stars is particularly notable, but the many battle scenes also look gripping and intense.
The trailer ends on the announcement of a special theatrical run of the TV series using re-editing episodes for the film Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginnings- which is coming to Japanese theaters starting January 17th. However, there will soon be news of overseas release information according to the same ending slide, so fans should undoubtedly keep an eye out for any more news about this latest entry in the Gundam franchise.
