New 'Cyberpunk' Animated Project In The Works At Netflix & CDPR

With Netflix Geeked Week in full-swing, one standout announcement was that a new animated series from CD Projekt was in the works, promising a ‘Return to Night City,’ confirming that the new series is none other than a new Cyberpunk project.
This currently unnamed series will be Netflix’s second Cyberpunk 2077 series, and while no details about the project have been revealed, it leaves many fans excited to return to Night City and the NUSA, and potentially reunite with some familiar faces while we wait for ‘Project Orion,’ the sequel game that recently entered development.
CDPR’s first Cyberpunk series, an anime named Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, was released on Netflix two years ago in September 2022, and serves as a prequel to the ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ videogame that launched in 2020. Praised by critics and fans alike, Edgerunners is largely attributed to returning players to the game and bringing in new ones after its troubled launch, at times bringing in over a million players each day following the anime’s release. The series was animated by Studio TRIGGER, best known for anime like PROMARE and Delicious in Dungeon. It has not yet been announced if TRIGGER will be animating this new project, or if another studio will be at the helm.
