Even Before 'Terrifier 3' Hits Theaters, Damien Leone Confirms Art The Clown's Return For 'Terrifier 4'
Horror icons aren’t exactly something that happen every day. Joining the ranks of Michael, Jason, Freddy, and Pinhead is incredibly difficult, and the argument can be made that the last villain to reach the rank of horror superstar is John Kramer/Jigsaw from the Saw franchise. Now, though, we may have a new contender to join the ranks of the elite.
Since his first appearance as a minor character in the anthology film All Hallows Eve, Art the Clown has been hacking and slashing (and many other ways besides) his way through soon-to-be three films. Now it’s officially confirmed that Art won’t massacre his last victim in Terrifier 3. During a Q&A, creator and director Damien Leone simply said, “Yes, there will be a Terrifier 4.”
The initial word was that the third film would be the final outing of Art the Clown. Now, there appears to be more story to tell. It’s almost certain that Art will still be the main antagonist, as he’s the main draw of the series.
Ask Friday the 13th how switching killers worked out.
Still, given that the direction for each Terrifier film seems to be “bigger and gorier,” one does wonder if the fourth will fail due to gore overload and if the shock value that defined the films will be gone. We’ll have to wait and see.
No release details about the fourth film have been given.
