Terminator Zero is a collaboration between Skydance Animation and Production I.G., the studio behind hit sci-fi anime such as Ghost in the Shell, Heavenly Delusion, and Kaiju No. 8. Writer Mattson Tomlin (The Batman Part II) serves as showrunner for the series with animator Masashi Kudo (Bleach) directing the series.

Terminator Zero will be the first animated project from the franchise, though a slate of animated shorts had been conceptualized in 2008, but sadly it never got off the ground.

Terminator fans won’t have to wait too long to see this new side of the war between humanity and Skynet’s machines, as Terminator Zero hits Netflix on August 19th.
