There are many things Star Wars fans expect to witness whenever a new show or movie releases. Lightsaber fights, intricately strange alien designs, astoundingly breathtaking environments, and other special effects are paramount to the experience of everything having to do with the popular franchise. With so many different things to include, one does wonder just how much money it takes to produce something of this magnitude.

Long answer short, quite a lot. With the newest upcoming series, Star Wars: The Acolyte, the budget comes out to around $180 million. While it's a lot less than Andor's budget of $250 million (making it the most expensive show in Star Wars's repertoire), it's still a significant amount of money to work with.

Because The Acolyte will plan on having a total of eight episodes, it's natural that most of it will go into the production of each episode, as well as post-production costs. While around $130.8 million went into the main production, the remainder, $49.2 million, went into pre-production. This budget only includes the first season, however, as The Acolyte plans on having multiple seasons, with the second season allegedly being written in the writers' room.

Star Wars: The Acolyte is scheduled to release the first two episodes on Disney+ on June 4th of this year.
