Kris Tyson, the 27-year-old co-host of the prolific YouTube content creator MrBeast, came out as a transgender woman earlier this year.  Six months after starting female Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), Tyson reports that she is much happier and more connected to her body since she has been transitioning, even going so far as to say that it saved her life.

“The physical changes aren’t the only things that have made me feel so much happier,” Tyson wrote in an Instagram caption, while sharing photos of her transformation. “The ability to get out of bed, ready to start the day, the desire to live my life to fullest again, and just being able to look in the mirror and see the woman I’ve always known was inside me finally starting to make her way in the world. Every day living your life your own way is the best day every day.”

Tyson has appeared on MrBeast’s YouTube videos for over a decade, starting when she was a teenager, participating in pranks and action set pieces. She stated that her online fame was initially a barrier to her transitioning.

“It was really just the societal pressure (that kept her from coming out sooner),” she told Padilla. “‘You’re Chris from MrBeast; you’re the guy who starts the fires.’ I never really felt like ‘the guy.’”

Tyson has stated that her friends immediately supported her transition when she told them three years ago that she “didn’t want to be a man anymore.”. MrBeast has also been supportive of his co-host and has defended her from online transphobic comments, once posting:

“(Tyson is) my f**ken friend and things are fine. All this transphobia is starting to piss me off.”

In recent months, Tyson has begun sharing more information and updates about her transition experience on Instagram and X, including highlighting some of the difficulties that she and other gender-non-conforming people have accessing gender-affirming care, something that has been hotly debated in state legislatures during the past year, especially as it relates to minors.  Tyson has also been reposting other transgender social media influencers such as Dylan Mulvaney in support of them. In August of this year, YouTube creator, Abigail Thorn, herself having previously come out as a transgender woman while producing content for her Philosophy Tube channel, announced on X.com that she will be having Tyson appear doing voiceover work on a future episode of Philosophy Tube.
