More Details Have Been Revealed About The Return Of The 1997 Game 'Backyard Baseball'
While it’s not one of the most iconic games of all time, the childhood hit Backyard Baseball is still a beloved game. Featuring a mix of new characters and real players, Backyard Baseball was definitely fun and a great starting point for baseball games. Given that it was released in the year 1997, the graphics are… a bit dated, as is the overall gameplay. While that hardly takes away from the game’s charm, it does mean that people don’t get to play it on modern consoles.
All of that is about to change.
The remastered edition of the game is on its way, and it’s certain to satisfy any fans of the original, barring it being a buggy mess. This time, the game includes things like achievements and a global leaderboard to track things like home runs and grand slams. At the moment, the game will just be on PC, but there are plans to move it to other consoles.

Unlike Backyard Baseball 2001 (the version I played growing up, incidentally), there won’t be any real-life players in the game, as such a thing would require a licensing agreement with the MLB and the MLB Player’s Association. So, if you’re looking forward to playing as a kid version of Ohtani… well, sorry to disappoint. Either way, it will hopefully be a fun game and a blast from the past for many players.
Backyard Baseball releases on October 10th on Steam for $9.99.
