Microsoft's Acquisition Of Activison Blizzard May Be Complete As Early As Next Week According To Reports
According to a post on X, Microsoft will soon complete its $69 million buyout of the company behind Call of Duty Activision Blizzard. It is reported that after much negotiation and litigation, the buyout will be complete on October 13th.
During the buyout process, Microsoft had to go through several phases of litigation before ultimately being successful. Before getting the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) approval, the company also needed to litigate the purchase with the United States Federal Trade Commission FTC and approval from the European Commission. Microsoft has also reached an agreement with Sony for a provision allowing Activision games on PlayStation for another decade.
While the deal does look to be almost completed the FTC does have an appeal currently pending with the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, but a decision is not expected there until early December. With the purchase about to go through fans are already wondering about Microsoft’s integration of the Activision Blizzard business. In August, in an interview with IGN XBOX executive noted that work needs to be done to get Activision Blizzard’s game on Game Pass.
