'Castlevania: Nocturne' Gets Second Season At Netflix
Only one week after its release, Netflix has announced that the animated series ‘Castlevania: Nocturne’ has been greenlit for a second season. The announcement came in a teaser which included some very slick layouts and storyboards giving fans of the Castlevania franchise a quick glimpse at what’s to come in the sophomore season of this new show.
Castlevania: Nocturne is a spinoff/sequel to the animated series Castlevania, which ran for four seasons on Netflix from 2017 until 2021, inspired by the video game series of the same name from Konami. Nocturne picks up roughly three hundred years after the events of the original series. It follows the journey of Richter Belmont (a distant descendant of Castlevania’s main protagonists Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades) as he and a new band of rebels attempt to stop a vampire uprising during the French Revolution. The series has been praised for continuing the original series’ stellar animation, courtesy of directors Samuel and Adam Deats and the rest of the animation team at Powerhouse Animation and around the world. In addition, the series has received praise for its newfound representation and introduction of new forms of magic inspired by Haitian and African Folklore.
While there is no release window for Season 2, director Samuel Deats stated in an X post “Sorry to keep you waiting. Won’t be quite so long this time.” Hopefully, fans won’t have to wait too long for the next season of Nocturne to arrive on Netflix.
