Manny Jacinto Reveals 'The Acolyte' Big Picture
Leslye Headland’s The Acolyte brought the High Republic era to television, the era that led into the Skywalker Saga. The series focused on the building darkness and the development of the Jedi Order at that time, leaving off with a brief cameo of Plagueis, a character switching sides, and the Republic Senate investigating the Order. Plans were drafted, at least vaguely, and there was the intention of developing the plot and period further; these plans were cut short when the series was not picked up for a second season. During a Collider-moderated panel at the 2024 Fan Expo, Manny Jacinto spoke about plans for the series made by Headland before it wasn’t renewed.
Jacinto, who played the cortosis helmet-wearing Stranger, explained Headland’s initial goal, “I remember Leslye’s dream was for us to do three seasons, not just this one…” The actor put a positive spin on the show’s fate, “But there’s something about having a finite ending to things that makes it so much more special.” Jacinto wrapped up his comments, acknowledging that there was more to explore with the lore they were creating, “So, yeah, I don’t know if I’d do it or not, but you know, three seasons and a movie would have been incredible, and I know we had so much more to explore with that second season.”
