Lord of the Rings is enjoying a revival after nearly twenty years since the completion of the Jackson trilogy’s theater runs. Whether it be the successful first season of Prime Video’s The Rings of Power, the release of new books like The Fall of Numenor, or the news of the Embracer Group’s new deal with Warner Bros. to make new movies set in Middle-earth, there’s no doubt that it’s a time for Tolkien. Now, fans can add the re-release of The Return of the King to theaters this April to the list.

According to The Nerdist, theater companies Cinemark and Regal have put out listings for April 13 for The Return of the King. While not quite the exact 20th Anniversary — that would be in December — it’s a move that likely reflects other release schedules this year and a desire to maximize sales. One interesting detail about the listings would be the run time. The run times are listed at 260 minutes. That’s longer than the original run time, so the only conclusion could be that they will be showing the Extended Edition of the movie. So get ready for multiple runs to the popcorn machine because that’s over four and a half hours of theater sitting to enjoy.

As if that weren’t enough, the frosting on that cake is that at Cinemark showings, fans will be treated to an introduction by Elijah Wood about the lasting impact of The Lord of the Rings to promote the new tabletop RPG, and he runs people through a recent celebrity led playthrough to raise awareness and support for Extra Life for Kids, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals program.

Mark your calendars and reserve your seats. April 13 is right around the corner.
