London West End Milestone For 'Harry Potter And The Cursed Child'
Most people familiar with the fantasy genre are most likely familiar with the name Harry Potter. Wizards, magic, Quidditch, and British boarding school happenings are only a few topics that keep people interested in the long-standing property. Outside of books and movies, however, the world of Harry Potter has also dabbled in another popular medium: theatre!
Based on the book of the same name, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany bring to life an entire theatrical production of the story of Albus Potter's (one of Harry's sons) time at Hogwarts. With Thorne's writing and Tiffany's direction, plus the assistance of multiple producers, the play has successfully drawn in a crowd for eight years.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child celebrated its eighth anniversary on July 30th in London's Palace Theatre, which is currently hosting the production. Since its opening release in 2016, the play has put on a total of 2,740 performances, with a total of 471 cast members and backstage crew members. “Making ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ was a beautiful experience, working with John and our talented creative team and cast has been a wonderful journey. It really has been a team effort from every person involved in the show, and we are all proud to still be here eight years on," Thorne stated.
All of you American Potterheads who wish to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child for themselves do have a few options at their disposal. Aside from New York, a different production is set to play in Chicago's James M. Nederlander Theatre. If neither option is available, however, the book is still available on bookstore shelves.
