Cullen is, of course, best known to fans of the original The Transformers cartoon show that aired in the mid-1980s as the voice of the valiant Autobot leader Optimus Prime, a character so beloved to fans that the series writers were ultimately pressured into resurrecting him after he died in 1986’s The Transformers The Movie. Cullen also voiced another Autobot character, Ironhide, for the first two seasons of the series and the movie. Cullen has gone on to reprise his role as Optimus Prime in several animated reboots of the series, videogames, and, most importantly, Michael Bay’s live-action Transformers movie franchise.
Other notable roles include the voice of Winnie The Pooh’s eternally pessimistic donkey, Eeyore, Coran in the Japanese animated series, Voltron, and the evil sorcerer Venger from the animated Dungeons & Dragons series. Cullen has been perhaps one of the most prolific voice actors still alive today, and the 82-year-old voice actor remains active to this day with various projects, mostly Transformers-related.
