From storytelling to the box office haul, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was inarguably a success. The sequel had an opening weekend domestic total of $181 million, bringing the international total to $331 million. The story itself was engaging and left room for future stories to be told. That future may come to fruition, according to the movie’s star Letitia Wright.

In an interview during the Golden Globes pre-show with Variety, the star opened up with her thoughts on the future of the Black Panther franchise. When asked about a possible third instalment, and whether it was greenlit, Wright responded that she “think[s] it’s already in the works.”

The actress gave a comment on the creative process. The second film was extremely emotional and took a good chunk of time to make sure it was something special. Wright said, “We need a little bit of a break, we need to regroup and Ryan [Coogler] needs to get back into the lab, so it’s going to take a little while, but we’re really excited for you guys to see that.”

Positive thinking is always a good mindset to maintain, nothing good can come out of negativity. If you want something, there’s little point in negativity, as Wright summarizes in this statement:

“I always try to do positive words and positive thinking, and I believe that good words manifest, so I’m manifesting a ‘Black Panther 3,’ why not?”

When it comes to an official announcement, however, there isn’t much. Another instalment to Black Panther will take a good chunk of time to work out, much less negotiate the finer details. For now, fans can make their voices heard in support, and they can re-watch the first instalment on Disney+. Wakanda Forever will join the first film on February 1, 2023.
