Marvel’s ‘Secret Invasion’ Series Will Set The Stage For ‘Armor Wars’
Since the first Avengers film, Marvel Studios has focused on creating a Cinematic Universe with continuity between all the films. However, in the past few years, the Marvel shows have seemed disconnected from the rest of the MCU. The new Disney+ series Secret Invasion attempts to change that. According to War Machine actor Don Cheadle, the new series will set up the plot of Armor Wars. Secret Invasion is led by Nick Fury and Talos, played by Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn, respectively, as they deal with a threat of shapeshifting Skrulls.
In an interview with Total Film, Cheadle talked about how the film and series will dive into the character of War Machine in a way that gives more depth to the character. He called the MCU’s interconnected “bananas” and “expansive.” The actor continued, “It can go on and on and on… hopefully it doesn’t get spread too thin. And there’s still some quality control and not just trying to expand for expansion’s sake. But there’s a very clear idea about the storytelling and what you’re trying to accomplish with every iteration.”
Secret Invasion is slated to release in the Spring of this year and is shaping up to be required watching for Armor Wars. This new phase of the MCU will culminate in two new Avengers films focused on protecting the world from Kang the Conqueror.
