Back in 2023, Neil Druckman, creator of The Last of Us game series, gave fans hope for a third game. He said;

“I don’t have a story, but I do have that concept that, to me, is as exciting as [what has come before but is still] its own thing, yet has this throughline for all three [games]. So it does feel like there’s probably one more chapter to this story.”

However in a recent interview with Variety, he walked back that news and fans there may not be any more games. When asked about The Last of Us Part III, he explained;

“I was waiting for this question. I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being of Last of Us. This could be it.”

Naturally, fans were upset by this news as the second game left a few unresolved questions that may now remain unresolved. While the game series may be finished, the HBO adaptation is still going strong.

The show’s creators confirmed that the show will probably run for four seasons with the second season set to premiere on April 13, 2025. If the questions The Last of Us Part II left open won’t be resolved in the games, perhaps, the show can address them in its later seasons.
