Kyle McCarley, the English voice actor for Mob in Mob Psycho 100, is not returning to voice the character in the anime's third and final season. According to a statement given to Kotaku by Crunchyroll, the dub will be approached as a SimulDub (released same day as the Japanese release) and will be recorded at their Dallas Studios.

However, there is more to this than production simply being done in-studio in Dallas. McCarley revealed that he and a good portion of the Mob Psycho 100 cast had discussed, during a Zoom call, the possibility of the show being produced under a SAG-AFTRA contract. During this meeting, the offer was pitched of doing season three under a non-union, on the condition that Crunchyroll would meet with SAG-AFTRA representatives to discuss an agreement. Crunchyroll, however, refused to agree to even meet with SAG-AFTRA, opting to replace McCarley instead. Kyle McCarley released a video on Tuesday explaining the situation in addition to a Twitter thread explaining why it is important for dubs to unionize.

McCarley isn't the only member of the English dubs cast and crew that is leaving the production. ADR director Chris Cason confirmed that he too will not be returning for the show’s third season.

Reactions to this news have been overwhelming negative, with many fans calling Crunchyroll out for their refusal to even talk to SAG-AFTRA. Other actors who have worked with Crunchyroll have also come forward, stating that the dubbing company routinely underpays their actors, including voice actress Anairis QuiΓ±ones, who was paid only $150 total for her work in the movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0, despite it grossing $30 million at the US box office.

Crunchyroll, however, has been dodging the subject, going as far as to not list Mob Psycho 100 in their Fall season announcement. However, fans are not letting the anime giant forget, flooding their tweets with references to the situation along with the hashtag #JustaMeeting, referring to McCarley's request.

Fellow voice actors are also encouraging each other not to audition for Mob Psycho and are encouraging fans to cancel their subscriptions to send Crunchyroll a message. There is no word on if the whole cast is being replaced or who will be voicing Mob in the upcoming season.
