Jeremy Allen White Is Apparently Playing A Hutt In 'The Mandalorian And Grogu'
One of the most bizarre casting rumors to date for Star Wars, or possibly all of pop culture franchise fare, was recently reported by scooper Jeff Sneider and has been picked up by various major trade publications.
Jemery Allen White, best known for his roles in the TV series Shameless and the FX series The Bear, is apparently going to be voicing the character of Rotta the Hutt, son of Jabba the Hutt, in The Mandalorian and Grogu. Fans of The Clone Wars animated series will no doubt remember Rotta as a key plot element to The Clone Wars animated movie that was released in theatres before the launch of the series, which also saw the official introduction of the now pivotal character Ahsoka Tano.
Unlike Ahsoka, however, Rotta has had much less time in the limelight, appearing only once after his film debut in a brief scene in The Clone Wars series, before vanishing altogether. He recently appeared in Hyperspace Stories (2022), a Dark Horse comic series marketed for all ages, but that appearance was brief and essentially a cameo.

His possible return in The Mandalorian and Grogu has also prompted speculation that Boba Fett and Fennec Shand will appear, as it was they who took over Jabba’s territory in The Book of Boba Fett. Exactly what sort of dynamics could be involved with Rotta’s return is unclear, as Rotta is a fairly blank slate and could become an enemy to Boba Fett, an ally, or have a different role entirely. Regardless, if Jeremy Allen White is voicing the character, and with Sigourney Weaver officially confirmed to be playing a role in the film, there are likely to be other surprising casting announcements or rumors in the future!
