The popular Korean Netflix drama Squid Game is not back yet, but it will almost feel like it. Weeks ahead of its premiere, Squid Game season 2 has already been nominated for a Golden Globe award. Shows are eligible for Nomination if they premiere before December 31st, Squid Game’s season premiere is on Boxing Day, which, for readers who live outside the Commonwealth of Nations, is the day after Christmas, December 26th. Shows were also required to make their shows available to voters in advance; this means that they got a sneak preview of the season before most of us had even gotten a chance to see it.

Squid Game was the biggest hit of streaming service Netflix during the year 2021. Centered around a game where 456 players in financial straits play deadly variations of children’s games in the hopes of a cash prize, the show launched to considerable acclaim and viewing figures. It spawned a reality show spin-off, of all things, and it has been talked about for months following its debut. Amongst the various shows on Netflix, Squid Game has proven itself to be among the streamer’s most well-known. Season two is looking to be another hit for the company, and we’ll all be watching.
