We have finally gotten our first look at the IT prequel series Welcome to Derry. Max has released a six-second teaser giving us a glimpse at what we can expect from the series that is expected to hit the streaming service and HBO sometime next year. According to IMDb, Bill Skarsgård will reprise his role as the terrifying Pennywise the dancing clown. The most intriguing part about the teaser is an old man’s voice saying “This ain’t America, this is Derry” reminding fans that Derry is anything but a normal small town.

While the trailer didn’t give much away it did show plenty of blood, screams, and a terrifying smile at the end. It looks like the series is going to have the same creepy atmosphere of the films, and will feature a fantastic new cast of young actors. The official synopsis of the series says that it will follow events in the 1960’s that lead up to the start of the Stephen King films. It is going to be exciting getting to finally learn why the town of Derry is cursed, what caused it, and why Pennywise seems to be attached to the town.
