'A Nightmare On Elm Street' Gets 4K Steelbook Treatment WIth Theatrical And Unrated Cuts
Ever since its release in 1984, Wes Craven’s (RIP) A Nightmare on Elm Street breathed new life into a stale genre oversaturated with big hulking, silent monsters. The horror of antagonist Freddy Krueger and his dream powers opened up a door that made him instantly terrifying. Instead of Michael or Jason slashing helpless people with the closest object, Freddy liked to play with his food, and the dream setting made for many creative kills. While the myriad sequels ranged in quality from “fairly good” to “Freddy’s Dead”, nobody will ever forget the Springwood Slasher.
Now we’re getting something pretty cool.
We’re getting a steelbook that pays homage to Freddy and to the old video store look of the original Nightmare on Elm Street VHS tapes. The box art has slashes from Freddy’s glove and artwork of Freddy’s infamous boiler room. It’s everything that a Nightmare fan could want. Best of all, the set gives us both the theatrical and unrated cuts of the film.
If you’re a big Nightmare on Elm Street fan, this is certainly not one to miss. I know I want to get it as soon as I can.
