In a recent interview with Sirius XM, Hugh Jackman confirmed that Deadpool 3 will use some sort of tech to allow characters to travel between different eras (see tweet below). This follows a video made by Ryan Reynolds on his youtube channel back in September, in which he apologizes for missing D23.

Hugh Jackman shows up in the back and becomes a “safety net” for a - supposed - lack of ideas for a plot. Jackman in his interview also said that it was important to him that “they wouldn’t mess with the Logan timeline”, something previous X-Men movies tried to do.

It is important to remember that X-Men movies after X-Men: First Class messed a lot with the timeline. A soft reboot happened in 2011 with it, introducing younger versions of the mutant heroes. The movies made from 2000 - 2006 heavily featured Wolverine and his story, being at certain times the focal point of the movie. Even though he shows up briefly on First Class and a lot on Days Of Future Past, Jackman found more space for Wolverine in his solo movies. X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The Wolverine, and Logan had more time to show his life. This is important because at the end of Logan Jackman’s character ultimately dies, and leaves X-23 as his successor.

With Deadpool 3 breaking the time travel wall, it will allow the public to see Jackman as a superhero once again, possibly in his top form. According to the movie’s IMDB page,

“A weary Wolverine finds himself recovering from his injuries when he comes across a loudmouth Deadpool who has time-traveled forward to heal his greatest pal in the hopes to befriend the wild beast and to team up to take down a foe they both have in common”

Deadpool 3 is set to premiere at some point in 2024. There is no exact date yet, but Ryan Reynolds will return as Wade Wilson /Deadpool. Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as Logan/Wolverine. The last confirmed actor by the IMDB page is Leslie Uggams, who will play Wilson’s sidekick, Blind Al.
