'Hideo Kojima: Connecting Worlds' Set To Premiere On Disney+

The Hideo Kojima-focused documentary, Hideo Kojima: Connecting Worlds, is set to premiere on February 23rd on Disney+. This was announced on the Japanese X account for Disney+ and confirmed in a post by The Game Awards account.

The documentary film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival at the Indeed Theater at Spring Studios in New York City last June and focuses on the creative process of the famed creator of Metal Gear Solid, Hideo Kojima, as he launched his Kojima Productions as an independent entity outside of Konami. It aims to explore “the power and potential of video games as an art form through the work of an influential talent revered by millions worldwide.”

The film is directed by Glen Milner and produced by Ben Hilton. Guillermo del Toro, George Miller, Nicholas Winding Refn, Grimes, George Miller, Norman Reedus, Woodkid, and Chvrches appear in the film. Kojima Studios was initially founded as a studio within Konami in 2005 but it became an independent entity in 2015 shortly after Hideo Kojima left Konami and released its first title, Death Stranding, in 2019.

It won several awards upon release, including the Outstanding Achievement in Audio Design and Outstanding Technical Achievement awards at the 23rd annual D.I.C.E. Awards in February 2020 and BAFTA’s Fellowship at the BAFTA Game Awards in April 2020. A new division dedicated to film, television, and music was also launched in Los Angeles, California in 2021. Kojima Productions is set to release Death Stranding 2: On the Beach in 2025.
