It seems that age has somehow softened Harrison Ford a little. The 80-year-old actor, who has cultivated his grumpy image for many years, not only recently returned to small-screen roles after several decades (1923, Shrinking) and started to attend at least some conventions, but he has also become more open towards colleagues.

One of these is Ke Huy Quan. The actor from Saigon/South Vietnam started his career at the age of 12 as Ford's sidekick "Short Round" in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. He followed up with the role of Richard "Data" Wang in The Goonies, but then his career fizzled out until he made his triumphant return in Everything Everywhere All at Once last year. His role as Waymond Wang has already earned him more than three dozen awards (among them a Golden Globe) and he is also nominated for an Oscar as Best Supporting Actor.

Harrison Ford, who has previously called the nomination "well deserved" now congratulated his former co-star on this achievement: “I’m so happy for him. He’s a great guy. He’s a wonderful actor. He was when he was a little kid, and he still is. I’m glad. I’m very happy for him. He is really terrific in his movie. And I’m so glad to see him…and what he has become.”

Ford and Quan shared the same venue during Disney's D23 last year when the former promoted his upcoming film Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and the latter was in attendance due to his role in the second season of Marvel's Loki. When Quan spotted Jones, he first hesitated to approach the man whom he had not seen in 38 years. "I’m thinking, ‘Is he gonna recognize me? The last time he saw me, I was a little kid.’ As I get closer, he turns and points his finger at me, and he has that classic, famous, grumpy Harrison Ford look," remembers Quan.

"But he looks and points at me and says, ‘Are you Short Round?’ Immediately, I was transported back to 1984, when I was a little kid, and I said, ‘Yes, Indy.’ And he said, ‘Come here,’ and gave me a big hug.”

Everything Everywhere All at Once gained 11 Oscar nominations, among them Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress, and now returns to cinemas ahead of the Oscar Celebration on March 12.
