An update has come following the pause on the production of Good Omens season three. According to The Hollywood Reporter, rather than a season of multiple episodes, the series finale will be a 90-minute-long episode. This feature-length episode will tie up the overall story, though whether or not it’ll end with a happily ever after is unconfirmed. It is slated to begin production in early 2025.

Neil Gaiman has reportedly stepped away from the project willingly following the five sexual assault allegations made earlier in the year; Gaiman has denied the allegations, and an investigation is currently in progress. While the author had a hand in writing the finale at this time, BBC’s Josh Cole and Narrativia’s Rob Wilkins will step in as co-executive producers with no input from the man.

Amazon Prime Video’s Good Omens is a comedic fantasy series following an angel of Heaven and a demon of Hell as they work together to defend Earth from their respective domains. Season two left off with heartbreak and tension; while Gabriel and Beelzebub get their happy ending, Crowley’s (David Tennant) planned confession gets turned on its head as Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) rushes in with news of the Metatron’s offer. The demon confesses, but the two can’t agree on their future and go their separate ways. While plot specificities are being kept under wraps, the third season will likely deal with the Second Coming, as another attempt at triggering the apocalypse is on the horizon, and Aziraphale and Crowley are still at odds while trying to avert it. To catch up on the plot ahead of the finale, the first two seasons are available to stream on Prime Video.
