The 80th Golden Globes took place on Tuesday, January 10th. Among the many deserving winners was Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert’s hit Everything Everywhere All at Once. Thought by many to be the best movie of 2022, the movie won two major acting awards with a Best Actress-Musical or Comedy for Michelle Yeoh and a Best Supporting Actor nod for Ke Huy Quan.

No stranger to the big screen, the Malaysian-born Michelle Yeoh was originally a ballet dancer and then a beauty queen before a movie producer discovered her. Since then, she has become known for action movies such as Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. In Everything Everywhere All at Once, she demonstrates the depth of her acting experience as she portrays an exhausted laundromat owner pulled through the multiverse in pursuit of saving the world. The movie also gives Yeoh a chance to show off her martial arts abilities.

Ke Huy Quan has come a long way since he played the role of the young sidekick Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. After a series of film roles during his childhood, including The Goonies, Quan obtained a degree in Film Studies from the USC School of Cinematic Arts and worked as a stunt coordinator and assistant director. The success of 2018’s Crazy Rich Asians would inspire him to return to acting. Not long after, he auditioned for and was cast in Everything Everywhere All At Once as the husband of Michelle Yeoh’s character.

Following the film’s success, both stars have other roles lined up. Yeoh and Quan are set to star in the Disney+ series American Born Chinese, based on the book by Gene Luen Yang. Yeoh recently appeared in Netflix’s The Witcher: Blood Origin and is set to star in The Brothers Sun and A Haunting in Venice. Quan will be appearing in the second season of Loki.

Given the actors’ Golden Globe-winning performances, their performances in their upcoming projects will be equally as spectacular.
