In a move that could confuse fans, Superman and Lois showrunner Todd Helbing revealed how the show's final season will honor the Arrowverse, which officially ended with The Flash’s final season.

Fans of the series will likely recall how Tyler Hoechlin’s Clark Kent and Elizabeth Tulloch’s Lois Lane first came to life during the Arrowverse era of programming from the CW network. However, Helbing tells Entertainment Weekly, “Inherently there’s so many pressures you feel with a TV show – just writing the script was pressure, and then producing it, and the second that the show began, it’s about Superman and Lois Lane, so there’s a responsibility that come with that too.”

As the era of cameo appearances in intellectual properties continues, many fans are eagerly anticipating the return of their favorite superheroes to the Arrowverse. Showrunner Todd Helbring is well aware of these expectations and is working diligently to manage them. He understands the mounting pressure and is doing his best to work within the constraints of schedules and budgets to deliver a satisfying season.

“In a comic book, you’d have all these characters at your disposal, so you can have whatever you want. But when you’re talking about schedules and money and budgets, it would be awesome to have Grant [Gustin] in this, but it’s just not feasible.

Is Helbing pulling fans’ legs, or should fans expect a final season looking out for their favorite Arrowverse heroes? It's hard to say, but what can be expected is a season honoring the Man of Steel and the love of his life.
