Emma Dumont, Of 'Oppenheimer' Fame, Reveals They Are Non-Binary, Transmasculine
In a surprise move, actor Emma Dumont recently updated their Instagram bio with “Nick Dumont” with “They/Them” pronouns, signifying an apparent shift in their gender identity to non-binary, trans masculine.
When asked by TMZ about the change in their profile, their representative confirmed as such:
"They identify as a trans masculine non-binary person. Their work name is still going to be Emma Dumont, but they will go by Nick with friends and family."
The term “transmasculine,” or “transmasc” for short, generally refers to a transgender individual assigned female-at-birth and whose gender and/or gender expression is what is typically considered “masculine” or “male.” “nonbinary,” or “non-binary,” refers to a person whose gender identity is not strictly “male” or “female” all the time.

People who are transmasculine and/or non-binary may use the pronouns assigned to them at birth (i.e., she), the opposite (i.e., he), both (i.e., he/she), neither (i.e., they/them), or some may not even express a preference. Some people identify as “agender,” as they do not identify with any gender. As is the case with transgender people in general, transmasculine and/or non-binary people may choose a variety of ways to affirm their gender identity or none at all. Another notable transmasculine actor to come out in recent years is Elliot Page (Juno, The Umbrella Academy)
Dumont has already begun posting pictures to their Instagram highlighting their updated appearance. Dumont has risen to prominence in recent years in television series and films such as Pretty Little Liars, Marvel’s The Gifted, Licorice Pizza, and, most notably, in last year’s hit historical biopic, Oppenheimer, where they played Oppenheimer’s sister-in-law, Jackie.
