Believe it or not, it’s been twenty years since the heartwarming Christmas staple Elf first hit cinemas. The script was penned by David Berenbaum, the same man who wrote Disney’s The Haunted Mansion and The Spiderwick Chronicles. The film made 190 million dollars in profit and spawned both an animated series and a hit musical.

To celebrate the major milestone, Buddy the Elf is returning to cinemas in the US and UK starting Friday, December 8th, 2023. However, if you can’t make it to the big screen to catch Will Ferrell in his famous striped tights, then Elf will be streaming on TBS, TNT, Max, Hulu, and AMC over November and December.

If you live in the UK, then you’ve got the opportunity to see the story live this holiday season. Elf the Musical is returning to the Dominion Theatre, from November 15 to January 6. In the US, the Empire State Building will light up green and yellow on November 7th, and a life-sized Buddy will be placed on the observatory level for that Instagram moment. The lobby will also be taken over by a special pop-up shop full of merch.

But the rest of the world need not despair; Elf in Concert is having its debut at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts. Then, like Buddy, it’s going on a worldwide tour, so it’s bound to be in a city near you!
