Donald Glover, also known as Childish Gambino, is returning to Community for the movie, though the capacity of his involvement has not been announced yet.

During an interview with GQ where Glover reflected on some of his most iconic acting roles, he slipped a comment about the shooting schedule for the film and the fact that he hasn’t seen a script yet:

“The Community movie, there’s some progress on it. We’re supposed to be shooting it soon. Haven’t seen a script. In true Dan (Harmon) fashion, will probably get it on the first day. But yeah, it’s supposed to be happening. I know just as much about it as you do.”

RELATED:

Community was a sitcom that ran from 2009-2015, centered at Greendale Community College.  Glover played Troy Barnes in the original series.  Troy was one of the main characters, going from an arrogant former jock to a nerd with a sense of humor.  His final appearance was in season 5, the character embarks on a sailing challenge and possibly is captured by pirates along the way.  Glover did not return for the 6th season as his career was not aligned for it at the time.

With Glover’s confirmation of involvement, Yvette Nicole Brown is the only main cast member to not confirm or deny involvement yet.  The movie will stream on Peacock, though a release date hasn’t been announced.  Season 6 of Community will also be streamable on Peacock.
