'Doctor Who' Reveals Titles For Three Upcoming Specials
For those fans of Doctor Who, we certainly have had quite a bit to celebrate this past week. In addition to seeing how our new Doctor Ncuti Gatwa is going to look come his turn for an episode that features musical darling and Hamilton scene stealer Jonathon Groff but we also were gifted some brand new, albeit cryptic new trailers for the upcoming specials which will bridge the outgoing Doctor into Gatwa’s Doctor with the return of fan favourite David Tennant and his companion Donna Noble played by Catherine Tate. While we get some great further visuals of the bridge season the titles also might be a glimpse into what we can expect.
The first special will be “The Star Beast”, the second is “Wild Blue Yonder” and the final episode which should be the introduction of Ncuti as The Doctor is “The Giggle”. For fans of Doctor Who and especially the classic Who fans, The Star Beast was a character during a comic run featuring the fourth Doctor, played by Tom Baker, in which the “Star Beast” was a creature called Beep the Meep who fooled readers into believing he was an innocent creature being pursued by a band of evil looking aliens however we learn in the twist ending that Meep is a villain of the whole thing fooling both the Doctor and the readers. “Wild Blue Yonder” certainly could represent some kind of space-based thing or could be related to Earth and the tenuous relationship that The Doctor has with this planet. And as for “The Giggle”, certainly not sure what that means but given that one of the announced bad guys for this series is Neil Patrick Harris who famously played Doctor Horrible which was a comedy show perhaps that is what he brings to an unsuspecting populous of earth?
Either way, with a late 2023 release we can expect more great things to come.
