In the beginning, we only had Netflix. The streaming giant didn’t instantly kill physical media stores (if you recall, Netflix was originally mailed to you), but it did show that things were headed in a different direction. If you wanted online streaming, Netflix was where you went.

Now, everybody has a streaming service. HBO, Peacock, Hulu, and countless others, Netflix is no longer the only one in the ring. Between losing out on some of its premier shows, such as The Office, to other streaming services, Netflix saw a dip in profit. Then… the dreaded time. The dark time. The time when you could no longer share your Netflix password with five people. Now, a lot fewer people are going to watch Squid Game Season 2.

Unfortunately, Disney is going the same route. By itself, Disney+ has been a disaster. Since its launch in November 2019, it has seen losses of over eleven billion dollars. However, it has been reported that it has now started to make money. Now, Disney+ might be getting another ding. It, too, has taken the route of anti-password sharing. On top of a price hike, basic subscribers can add one extra member to their household for the bargain price of $6.99/month, with premium subscribers bumped up to $9.99.

It’s not clear exactly when this all starts, but. by all accounts, it’s very soon. So, if you’re using someone else’s Disney+ account so that your kids can watch Bluey, well, it is time to find room in the budget for your own account.
