Disney Drops 'Andor' Season 2 Release Date
The Star Wars storyline continues with the release of the second season of the acclaimed show Andor. The Disney+ original show, serving as a prequel to Rogue One, has Diego Luna reprising his titular role and follows his early years fighting for the Rebellion. According to ScreenRant, the second season of Andor will air on April 22. Given the April 22 release date, Andor’s second season will come “hot on the heels” of the fan convention Star Wars Celebration.
Fans of Andor will watch Cassian evolve into a leader for the emerging Rebel Alliance. According to starwars.com, “Cassian may have been a reluctant hero before, but the Andor we’ll meet next year is fueled by a higher purpose in the fight for freedom against the Empire.” Seeing Andor “fighting for freedom,” fans will be given a twelve-episode season just like the first season. These twelve episodes are set to follow a similar weekly release pattern, resulting in a predictive season finale date of June 24, 2025, according to ScreenRant. However, if Andor drops one episode a week as opposed to the first two episodes before releasing one per week subsequently, the finale would be released on July 8.

Luna’s portrayal of the man who will sacrifice his life a few years within the Star Wars timeline will be waiting on bated breath, but it gives its fans more time to rewatch the first season and witness what made the first season earn a Certified Fresh 96% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes as well as 87% from audiences, eight Emmy nominations, and a Golden Globe. With Andor being regarded as “one of the best live-action Disney+ offerings”, season two has much to live up to and maintain.
