Din Djarin And Grogu Are Getting Their Own Movie
Very exciting news for the future of Din Djarin and Grogu has recently been announced: the pair will be continuing their saga on the big screen! Currently titled The Mandalorian & Grogu, the film will be directed by series creator Jon Favreau and produced by Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. Patience is definitely a virtue; rumors of a movie have been swirling for a little while and are finally confirmed!
Favreau commented on the upcoming project, “I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created. The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.” This will shift the kind of story being told, shaking expectations for the duo’s adventures.

Fans will note that this comes before any official word on The Mandalorian season four and may replace it altogether; time will tell on that note. Kennedy chimed in, explaining, “Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen.” Rather than episodes broken up as chapters with their own underlying plot and overall season goal, it seems that the next story will have a narrower, more streamlined focus.
Production for The Mandalorian & Grogu is slated to start in 2024. It will pick up sometime after season three; the third season of The Mandalorian saw Din fully take Grogu on as his apprentice and become an under-the-table Imperial remnant hunter for the New Republic. A release window has yet to be announced, though this lines the film up with the other upcoming Star Wars films, including Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s movie focused on the New Jedi Order.
