No longer is Daniel Radcliffe the same little boy who graced screens as the famous Boy Who Lived. In a trailer recently released by Rotten Tomatoes, Radcliffe dons a permed wig and large glasses to portray the famous “King of Parody” Weird Al, who rose to fame as a musician singing parodies of the top 100 songs of his time. In the trailer, Radcliffe enters a room, throws a cassette tape at a man, and orders him to play it. From there, the trailer recounts Weird Al’s beginnings as a man who doesn’t fit in and wants to create something more dynamic and worthwhile for a world-famous superstar.

From being told he was a joke to discovering his love of creating something new out of what had already been done, the trailer promises to show its audience a new side of Weird Al. Within the trailer, the audience is thrust into Weird Al’s rise to fame, the question of whether or not he and Madonna had a relationship, his familial relationship and friendships becoming strained, and so on.

According to Newsweek, “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story” is set to depict “the musician's rise to fame—and bumps along the way—as arguably the most famous parody artist of all time.” Within the film, viewers will notice other big names coinciding with Yankovic’s rise to fame. This includes Evan Rachel Wood as Madonna, Abbott Elementary creator Quinta Brunson as Oprah Winfrey, The Office's Rainn Wilson as radio DJ Dr. Demento, James Preston Rogers as Hulk Hogan, and Julianne Nicholson as Yankovic's mother.

As luck would have it, Yankovic himself co-wrote the script. With this addition, the film aims to be an honest portrayal of the King of Parody’s musical career. Rebelling against the norm by sneaking out and going to polka parties and reading about accordions, “Weird Al” has cemented himself in music and pop culture history. Radcliffe appears to be reaching new levels of acting prowess to do the comedy musician justice. Viewers will see this new side of Radcliffe and Weird Al on November 4 on the Roku Channel.
