Crystal Dynamics, the team of developers behind Marvel’s Avengers, Tomb Raider, and Legacy of Kain is working on a new project. Last week, the company e-mailed playtest invitations to players who completed a Legacy of Kain survey. Gamers can access the playtest remotely as long as they have access to a PC or a Mac with a web camera and microphone and have Microsoft Teams installed on their device.

The company confirmed that the playtest is real but would not offer even a hint of what the game might be. They further explained that the playtest invitations would expand beyond just those who filled out the Legacy of Kain survey. The playtest for the mysterious game will run from May 3 to May 12.

Gamers are split on what the new game could be. Some are convinced a new Tomb Raider game is on the way while others think Crystal Dynamics may be reviving the Legacy of Kain franchise. Another possibility is a previously canceled Legacy of Kain spinoff called Nosgoth, which was meant to be a free-to-play multiplayer action game. Crystal Dynamics CEO Phil Rogers did point out that the company was listening to the survey responses in regard to its next project:

“We wanted to gain a community perspective on what players are looking for should we revisit the land of Nosgoth and our iconic IP, Legacy of Kain.”

Whatever Crystal Dynamics has in store, players will have to wait until May 3 for answers.
