The Cyberpunk title is making an eventual return, according to the developers, in a sequel codenamed Project Orion. It will reportedly take Night City and its universe to a whole new level. This news comes just 2 years after the initial release of the 2020 title.

CDPR has several Witcher installments coming up, so Project Orion is quite a ways away. It seems like it’ll be well worth the wait, however. CEO Adam Kiciński has said it will “fully unleash the potential that this universe offers” in a video published on the CDPR YouTube channel. He adds that the studio’s staff will need to be expanded for this endeavor, and that a new studio location will be launched to help with the development.

No other details have been given at this time, including any sort of release window. There’s no rush for it, though; 2020 was a clear reminder of why companies shouldn’t be rushed in game releases. The original Cyberpunk 2077 was pushed to release too fast, resulting in a product riddled with glitches and bugs that initially left fans less than satisfied.

Since the original release, patches, updates, and expansion work have been added. Despite the rough start, video game fans fell in love with the action-packed, frankly beautiful roleplaying game. Seeing where the new storyline will lead is surely something to look forward to!
