New production photos emerged earlier this week from the set of Star Wars: The Acolyte. While sets are still in the construction phase, filming is expected to begin sometime this month at Shinfield Studios in Berkshire, England.

The set has an isolated, small-world feel similar to Ferrix in Andor, and has made extensive progress since the first round of images were posted in late August. Also filming in England are Asoka and Skeleton Crew, but no set images have leaked for those.

Set during the High Republic era, which is a century before The Phantom Menace takes place, little else is known about the plot of the show. In Star Wars lore, an acolyte is a follower of the dark side of the force. During this time period, the dark side is practically non-existent, with the Jedi keeping the peace. But as we all know, followers of the Dark Side are always waiting and watching from the shadows.

Leslye Headland, known for her work on Netflix’s Russian Doll will produce, direct, and write for the series. Amandla Stenberg from Bodies, Bodies, Bodies will star as the main protagonist, with Lee Jung-Jae (Squid Games), Jodi Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim), and Manny Jacinto (The Good Place) also starring.

While there is no official release date from Disney+ for the series, IMDb has 2023 listed, with 8 episodes. It looks like we’ll have to wait for official word from the House of Mouse.

If you need a Star Wars fix now, you can catch new episodes of Andor Wednesdays on Disney+.
