The remake of Resident Evil 4 is almost here, and as part of the promotion for the release, Capcom has released a short anime episode.

A very large contrast between this and the series it is based on doesn’t affect the enjoyment of this short at all; it is meant as a little comical piece. The bright colors and soft lines know the ideal response from the viewer, and that response is not one of terror or fright. With this short labelled as “Episode 1,” it’s likely that more will follow on the game’s launch or soon after.

This anime short uses the beginning of Resident Evil 4 as a base: Leon S. Kennedy tracking the president’s kidnapped daughter to a secluded European village, where something odd has happened to the locals. The remake of the 2005 game features modernized gameplay and detailed graphics, along with a reimagined storyline to bring the game that revolutionized survival horror to a new generation of players.

Releasing on March 24, Resident Evil 4 will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and Steam. A playable demo is available on all platforms, providing a short version of the game’s opening to allow players to experience some of the new gameplay mechanics.
