In support of the striking SAG-AFTRA actors and WGA writers, Brad Pitt decided to postpone production on his Formula 1 racing film Apex. Pitt has been hard at work in Europe filming the movie, and hoping to involve some real-world races in the footage. Last weekend, the cast and crew traveled to Hungary to collect shots from the Hungarian Grand Prix. At this point, filming was only performed by non-SAG actors, but Pitt, who also serves as Apex’s producer, thought the best decision would be to halt filming altogether.

This decision could cause the movie some financial issues, but Pitt was adamant in showing support for his colleagues on strike. Because of his decision, the movie will miss the chance to film at Belgium’s Grand Prix. The movie will continue production on the shoots booked in, but the plan is to postpone all further filming until November when the cast and crew are scheduled to shoot scenes in Las Vegas. Of course, this is contingent on the strikes being resolved by then.

Apex focuses on Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, an ex-Formula 1 driver who left the track after a crash that threatened his career. Joshua Pierce, played by Damson Idris, brings him back to the track in hopes that his experience will help him achieve victory. No release date has been announced, but the film is being produced for Apple TV+.
