Ben Affleck's 'Air' Will Start Streaming On Amazon Prime Video This Month
The film, Air has been a slam dunk in its theatrical debut by Amazon Studios. Variety reports that the film was seen on over 3,500 screens. Additionally, this film serves as the launch project for Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s production company, Artists Equity. Amazon Studios, Skydance Sports, and Mandalay Pictures produced the project alongside Artists Equity. The script was written by Alex Convery and was directed by Affleck.
What’s more is that it stars both Affleck as Nike co-founder Phil Knight and Damon as the Nike executive Sonny Vaccaro who scouted Michael Jordan for the endorsement deal along with an all-star cast: Damian Delano Young (Michael Jordan), Viola Davis (Deloris Jordan): Davis was specifically requested by the NBA superstar to play his mother in the movie, Marlon Wayans (George Raveling), Jason Bateman (Rob Strasser), Chris Tucker (Howard White), and Gustaf Skarsgård (Horst Dassler) to name a few.

Air tells the true story of the relationship between Michael Jordan and Nike that paved the way for other athletes in the arena of endorsement deals. For fans not sure whether or not to see the movie it might help to know that Variety’s Peter Debrudge compared the film to Jerry Maguire. In his review, he also wrote that Air “ought to be taken as the ultimate example of the American dream, a funny, touching Cinderella story about how the third-place sneaker brand wished upon a star, and how that man — and his mother — were smart enough to know their value. “Air” reveals how an exceptional Black athlete leveraged his talent — and the power of being pursued by a bunch of white men in suits — to change the game.”
For Prime members with Fire TV devices access to Air will be available on May 12 with the added perk of an exclusive about how the film was made. Air will begin streaming on Prime Video starting May 17.
