Despite having been a staple of the MCU since its beginning, Nick Fury has rarely gotten much spotlight. However, in the upcoming miniseries Secret Invasion, he will be handed the reins.

Fury, played once again by Samuel L. Jackson, will be uncovering a conspiracy where the Skrulls, a species of alien green shapeshifters that can mimic humans perfectly, are working their way into positions of power on Earth. These aliens, introduced in Captain Marvel, have not yet been viewed as enemies, and Fury had even allied himself with their leader, Talos (Ben Mendelsohn). However, a group of Skrull extremists, led by Garvik (Kingsley Ben-Adir) has grown impatient and is attempting to gain certain resources. “We don’t know who’s a friend, who’s the enemy,” Jackson said, emphasizing the spy aspect that the series will be taking.

Although the Skrulls plan to be as stealthy as possible to acquire their resources, the aliens are prepared to use force if needed. “I think any time that you get cultures that have significant tensions between groups of people, then you can find a corollary,” Mendelson said in an interview, where he discussed how the story mirrors many real-life events featuring displaced groups of people fracturing. Emilia Clarke will be playing G’iah, the daughter of Talos, who first appeared as a child in Captain Marvel, and will also play a major role in the series.

Cobie Summers (Maria Hill), and Don Cheadle (James Rhodes) are other established MCU actors who will be appearing in the series, will Summers currently slated to appear in all 6 episodes. Olivia Coleman, Carmen Ejogo, Christopher McDonald, Killian Scott, Yentsislav Yankov, Martin Freeman, and Charlayne Woodard are among other actors confirmed to be in the series. Secret Invasion will premiere on Disney+ on Wednesday, June 21st.
