It wasn’t that long ago that Disney announced they were renewing Percy Jackson and the Olympians for a second season and already there are announcements for production. Season two will be following the story from the second book in Rick Riordan’s book series: Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters, and will introduce many new characters and places.

Hello, World!

According to fans, one of the best parts of the Disney+ series was the music soundtrack. Bear McCreary, Emmy and BAFTA award winner known for The Rings of Power and Godzilla: King of Monsters and God of War: Ragnarök, composed the first season’s music. It was haunting, and beautiful, and elevated the series even more with fanciful and epic orchestral themes throughout. He did this soundtrack with his entertainment company Sparks and Shadows.

It was announced that Bear McCreary will return to do the soundtrack for season two along with Ryan Sanchez’s score engineering company Echo Lane Productions. This company has worked with McCreary before on several of the same series and games. Echo Lane Productions also helped collaborate on season one’s soundtrack as well as the score mixer for the soundtrack. Sanchez and McCreary have said they are excited to return for a second season.

The cast is also excited that this same dynamic team will be scoring season two. Charlie Bushnell, who plays Luke Castellan, said in an interview: "It's such a small world, Bear McCreary actually literally lives a few houses down from me. I met up with him and he took me into his studio and he showed me that scene and he played the theme for me. I got goosebumps the first time I heard it." The theme that Bushnell is talking about is one of the many specific character themes that McCreary composed, this one just for the multi-faceted character of Luke.

All eight episodes of season one of Percy Jackson and the Olympians are currently streaming on Disney+.
