Avatar: The Way of Water is still playing in theaters, but that hasn’t stopped James Cameron from teasing the next film. The film will focus on a new side of the Na’vi, a volcanic tribe of fire-wielders known as the Ash People.

In a recent interview, the Avatar director discussed a different direction for the third film. James Cameron states, “I want to show the Na’vi from another angle because, so far, I have only shown their good sides. In the early films, there are very negative human examples and very positive Na’vi examples. In Avatar 3, we will do the opposite.”

The director compared the first two films to setting a table before a meal. The movies serve as an introduction before the main course, and Cameron and his crew have been busy cooking. Avatar 3 is 95% complete, and filming is underway for Avatar 4. Even the script for Avatar 5 is finished. With Avatar 2 rolling in more than $1.4 billion and the first film’s box office record of $2.923 billion, Cameron has undoubtedly proved his worth as a cinema icon. As a result, fans of the Avatar films have a lot to look forward to as the franchise progresses. But, of course, this all depends on the reception of the current movie.
