Anime Voice Actor Kappei Yamaguchi Has Been Hospitalized For A Shoulder Injury
Well, you know what they say, no pain on gain, right? Voice actor Kappei Yamaguchi, known for many roles including Usopp in One Piece, has been hospitalized for a shoulder injury he incurred during weight training. He tore his shoulder while training, and since it isn’t an area that heals naturally, he had to have surgery. Yamaguchi thanked his fans in a post for sending him well wishes, and he also posted a photo of himself at the hospital in a mask and a cast.
Translated, it says the following:
“Even if your dominant hand is not convenient, Humans learn all kinds of skills ^^ Bread on Sunday morning Let's eat! It's nice weather outside~ ♪”
Yamaguchi added in another post that he has started rehabilitation training. Kappei Yamaguchi is well-known to many anime fans. In addition to his role as Usopp, Yamaguchi voiced the titular character in Inuyasha, Shinichi Kudo, and Kaito Kid in Detective Conan (or Case Closed in the United States), L in Death Note, and the male version of Ranma in Ranma 1/2 (which was also his anime debut). He received the Kei Tomiyama Award at the 13th Seiyu Awards in 2019. Hope you get well soon, Yamaguchi-sensei!
