Anime Movie 'Look Back' Gets North American Release Date
Following a successful run in Japanese cinemas, Look Back has not only received a trailer for its North American release, but we’ve also received a release date as well as some new details about the film.
Directed by Kiyotaka Oshiyama (Flip Flappers) and produced by Studio Durian, Look Back is an anime adaptation of the 2021 one-shot by Tatsuki Fujimoto, told a deeply heartfelt coming-of-age story about the joys and pains of artistry only the creator of Chainsaw Man can tell. Oshiyama is also credited with the script and character designs, with Kiyoshi Sameshima serving as art director on the film and Haruka Nakamura composing the score. The film first premiered at the Annecy International Film Festival in France, followed by a wide release in Japan on June 28th.

With the rest of the world waiting with bated breath for news on the international release, GKIDS announced that the film will receive a wide release in North America this fall, dropping a new trailer for the film.
GKIDS synopsis for the film reads:
“Popular, outgoing Fujino is celebrated by her classmates for her funny comics in the class newspaper. One day, her teacher asks her to share the space with Kyomoto, a truant recluse whose beautiful artwork sparks a competitive fervor in Fujino. What starts as jealousy transforms when Fujino realizes their shared passion for drawing.”
Look Back hits North American theaters on October 4th. The manga can be found on Viz Media, or bookstores and comic shops.
