Amazon Studios Changes Its Name To Amazon MGM Studios
In a keynote speech on Oct. 3 at Iberseries & Plantino Industria, Pablo Iacoviello announced a change in branding. Amazon Studios will now be known as Amazon MGM Studios to reflect the availability of Amazon originals and MGM’s massive storehouse of films. There are over 4,00 film titles, 17,000 TV episodes, 180 Academy Awards, and 100 Emmy Awards under the MGM banner.
Iacoviello assured his audience that they would continue producing films in Latin America, pointing to the Oscar-nominated Argentina, 1985 as a prime example. Iacoviello said, “I think we are doing a little bit of everything, and we have not run out of potential big productions in Latin America. I believe there is an opportunity to make large projects in the region more efficiently while holding them up to the same standards of quality.”
