Alan Horn, Former CCO Of Disney, Has Joined Warner Bros As A Senior Advisor

Alan Horn

Warner Brothers recently went through a merger with Discovery. This led to major shake ups within the company as new faces appear and old ones fade away. Earlier this week, Warner Bros. confirmed that an old face would be returning when they announced Alan Horn would be rejoining the company as a senior advisor. The company has been trying hard to get its franchises in order, and no one is better for the job than Alan Horn.

For those in the know, this reveal may come as a shock. Alan Horn announced his retirement from the film industry less than a year ago at the age of 78 after serving as COO of Disney for nine years, president and COO of Warner Bros. for 12 years, and 50 years in the entertainment industry as a whole. During his tenure at Warner Bros., he oversaw the success of many franchises such as the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, The Dark Knight trilogy, Harry Potter, and the birth of the DCEU. Now, as the dust settles on the merger, he will work to help the two companies become one in the smoothest way possible after assisting with the integration of Lucasfilm and Fox into Disney. Warner Bros. Discovery is trying to regain the reins of franchises such as Fantastic Beasts and the aforementioned DCEU. Both have spiraled out of control in terms of quality since their inception, but Horn may be able to bring them back on to the right track.

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav had this to say regarding Horn’s return:

“Over the past six months, I have been fortunate to spend time with Alan. He has been generous and hugely helpful to me, and I’ve learned a ton about the business from our conversations. I could not be more excited to be able to continue to tap into his thinking, expertise and stellar instincts as we transition our film business and hone our motion picture strategy for the future. And I know Mike [De Luca] and Pam [Abdy] are equally excited to have Alan’s ear and to be able to benefit from his wealth of experience gained from such an illustrious track record.

In many ways this is a homecoming. Alan began his career with the legendary Norman Lear and partners Jerry Perenchio and Bud Yorkin, and later co-founded and led Castle Rock Entertainment before serving as president and COO of Warner Bros. for 12 years. He knows the ins and outs of this studio and helped build it into the powerhouse it is today. He also has wide-spread talent relations and great respect and appreciation for our unparalleled collection of IP, and will be able to provide a unique and valued perspective to the overall creative process. We’re so glad to have him join us.”

Fans of Warner Bros. can now breathe a sigh of relief with Alan Horn’s return. Aside from his former leadership roles, he also founded Castle Rock Entertainment. There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that this man knows how to run a studio. With his relationships with actors, directors, and production teams, Warner Bros. Discovery has a bright future ahead of them.
