According To George R.R. Martin, Some 'Game Of Thrones' Projects Have Been Shelved At HBO
The Warner Bros/Discovery merger has put some projects in limbo, some being canceled entirely. To some degree, this has happened once again; the Game of Thrones franchise gets its turn. George R.R. Martin gave an update regarding several projects in a recent blog post.
Fans have been eager for an update since the finale of House of the Dragon, hoping content limbo wouldn’t be their fate. With the restructuring that is happening though, things are bound to happen. Martin points out how a project isn’t necessarily dead even when it gets shelved. There’s always some degree of hope, especially when everything dies down.

He summarizes the state of his projects in this statement:
“None have been greenlit yet, though we are hoping… maybe soon. A couple have been shelved, but I would not agree that they are dead. You can take something off the shelf as easily as you can put it on the shelf. All the changes at HBO Max have impacted us, certainly.”
The current fate of these shows may be somewhat up in the air, but there is content you can rewatch in the meantime. House of the Dragon and the original Game of Thrones series are both streamable on HBO Max. Another adaptation of Martin’s, Wild Cards, will be streamable on Peacock though it is still in development.
